Our music team is an integral part of LSR - we take it very seriously - and we're proud to say we take great pride in spotting the biggest and best records before anyone else.
You'll never catch us just take the Radio 1 Playlist and playing it non-stop - if you want that, you can listen to Radio 1! We pick out some of the freshest tunes from up-and-coming artists, and sprinkle them in amongst the latest work from more established bands to create one of the most well-respected playlists on Student Radio.
In the last year, we've pioneered tracks from Bonde Do Role, Jack Penate, Cajun Dance Party, Mark Ronson, The 1990's, Pull Tiger Tail, Modest Mouse, Foals, Low vs Diamond, Digitalism, Mitchell Brothers, The Sugars and Maximo Park to name but a few - and we're always listening to the sacks of CD's we get sent every week to spot the next big record.
We're in touch with some of the biggest record labels in the music industry who send us their new releases way before they're available to buy or download so we can decide what will make our prestigious playlist!
Our team also head out and about across Leeds to interview the bands that our playing in venues across the city - so we can get the official word on what's going on!
LSR's musical policy is so diverse, it means whatever your taste in music - at some point on LSR - we'll be playing the songs you love.
